Kleinmond to Gordon's Bay the scenic way!

Woke up early in beautiful Kleinmond and caught the sunrise over the beach and Caleb and Jemma played on the beach. The boys had slept in the tent and so Marinus and Theo packed it away and then everyone showered and we headed off for a wonderful day of exploring and viewing the beauty all around us.

We hiked to a weir in a national reserve that protects miniature frogs near Kleinmond and then we checked out some of the sights near Pringle Bay and explored a "Biosphere Reserve" in RooiEls. There was the bluest little bay in a small reserve through the fynbos right on the beach between the houses and the sea.

Then we drifted along the Gordon's Bay road collecting sights and geocaches. It was great to have an excuse to do things more slowly and not just driving the road all in one go. We stopped at spots, climbed out, scrambled up the hills or down to the beach and it was really rewarding!

A day of such beauty certainly fitted in with thoughts of the Ascension which is what we remembered today!

We arrived in Gordon's Bay and Strand hit a serious problem: the few caravan parks that are there require a two week booking process! So we had to rush across the Cape Flats through Muizenberg and Fish Hoek to Simonstown to a caravan park there which consisted of a number of levels overlooking the sea. We got in just in time and lit the fire to braai some steak and chicken and set up the tent and collapse in thankful exhaustion as we considered our awesome country and our Great Creator!
