Stellenbosch Overnight

We stayed in Mountain Breeze Caravan Park overnight. It is in the middle of a pine forest and we woke up in the morning with squirrels scampering. With no deadlines to meet, we started the morning slowly - had to do a fair bit of wound-dressing on Theo who's wounds are frustratingly slow to heal. Caleb even had a squirrel run up his leg and Bren photographed one that came up the stairs in the camper!!!

Then we went off to "Rus en Vrede" which is a very prestigious wine farm where we did the full wine tour and taste thing. Caleb was very impressed until he tasted the wine!!! "Ugggh" he says!

In the afternoon we went to "The Giraffe House" which is a two year old venture where you can see giraffe's, cape buffalo, birds of prey, bat-eared foxes and a horde of other creatures. The concept is not to be a zoo but a place where you can experience some of Africa's biggest birds and mammals, and some of the smallest. Caleb held some egg-eating snakes in his hand and touched a harrier-hawk that was being trained for falconry.

Then it was off to Mark and Carol's where we will park for the night. They are in Noordhoek and we had fun driving over "Ou Kaapse Weg" and have new respect for those who cycled it in the alternate Argus. Joan and Marinus and Jemma join us tomorrow! YIPPEE!
